Herringbone Tiles – Ideas for your Los Angeles Home

Harringbone Floor + Versa Tile Wall-

The herringbone pattern and tile design is an arrangement of rectangles used for floor tilings and road pavement, so named for a fancied resemblance to the skeleton of a fish such as a herring.
The blocks can be rectangles or parallelograms. The block edge length ratios are usually 2:1, and sometimes 3:1, but need not be even ratios. This pattern can add depth and elegance to any tile project you might have in your Los Angeles home. You can add richness to a very small area by just simply use this very ancient design.

If you are taking the challenge of doing this job yourself, in order to create this pattern you must start at an angle. It is very helpful to open a few boxes and lay the tile out and make sure it will work. For us it was the entryway into the Family Room. It reduced the number of cuts that needed to be made and helped us start with a straight line. A helpful tip is to use a laser level to make sure you have a straight edge. Don’t go off the wall lines, walls are almost never straight!
